woyww - watercolouring

Playing around with  new stamps and distress inks that I picked up from the Craft fair.  I had been watching a tutorial by Shari Caroll on the hero arts blog on the 9th March on watercolour stamping.  What I learnt this time was the watercolour block background.   I made several cards following Shari's tutorial and I made some simpler versions.    I really like the soft water effect.  A nice relief after the bird/cage atc.
As usual I had packed everything away when I finished and then I realised I hadn't taken the photo!!  I put it down to a senior's moment (or 2).  Now I need to have a peek at what everyone else has been doing this Wednesday.

  10. yes and I had done and practiced for hours doing contour drawings - they are funny! - you experience seeing and focus on the object you are drawing not upon the drawing, so you imagine you are touching the thing you are observing and run your finger (in your mind) along the contour of the object, whilst your hand and pencil draw the line, and your hand learns to make a mark that is what you are experiencing, if you do it enough it shocks you how accurate they become, and in terms of cheating, you cannot draw a model if you are not looking at the model, and if you are looking at your pencil and paper you are not looking at the model. It disciplines you to capture the whole shape before you start to move to details. the top one is a straight contour pencil on paper it takes about half and hour, the second was corrected to the proportions of the model after the contour had been done and the third had shading added, three contours in a two and a half hour lesson - exhausting,

your water colours are beautiful i love water colours for their ability to blend effortlessly - so elegant

i TotallY clicked that link and watched the tutorial. I am going to try it out. I am so glad you shared it -
i just scrolled back up and saw that you were using the same supplies in the tutorial - that must be how you learn such good stuff. i watched it thinking i didn't have that stuff and i'd use other stuff.
i should probably do what you do because i have No Clue how she started with the resist writing.
god, i ought to go to that site and watch the rest of the tutorials - are they all that good?
and i never know how to use my stamps.
