woyww -steampunk of sorts

Now this is my first attempt at steampunk and I have almost finished one little ATC.   I have always admired the look but never quite understood the genre/concept.  However, I have committed to this swap so I am trying to pull it all together without embarrassing myself.  While I wait for cogs to arrive I am playing around with the backgrounds.  Don't be alarmed by the hammer, I am using it for artistic purposes i.e hammering in some tiny eyelets.  DH thinks I have lost my mind and I probably have but I couldn't find anything else.

A big thank you to Jingle for my lovely PIF it is perfect.  Thank you.... thank you Jingle.  Sorry that it has taken me ages to post a pic.  I could lie and say I have spent all my spare time working on this swap and hammering the life out of little eyelets.  But, I am  still reading trashy holiday books and I mean really trashy.  So trashy I had to start a whole new collection on my kindle.  Link up to Julia's to see the wonderful creative desks that  DO NOT waste their time on trashy holiday books.

  1. Like you, I love the Steampunk design, but am not sure exactly how to go about creating it for myself. Good luck with the gears and cogs and maybe you can give a few pointers along the way as you make yours for the swap.

  11. I think we crafters are masters at finding new uses for tools normally found in a handyman's bag - see Dragon's blog for what she does with a blowtorch. Nothing wrong with reading a trashy book now and again - do it myself occasionally :) Elizabeth x #73

  13. Ah so you have a kindle, Sandra... trying not to turn green. Mm sounds great but think I like a book but can see it would have many other uses kind of long for a notebook or like to be sitting doing this in my lounge room rather than in the computer room, boring!!
Lovely things happening here today..but must confess have no idea what steampunk is? guess am going to have to google? Thanks for sharing and for popping over, Happy WOYWW! Shaz in Oz.x

  19. Oh I love my books (the real ones). I read almost everything, which is where I will be when not doing my crafting. The house will take care of itself eventually. Kidding, I am a good housekeeper. Steampunk looks so fun, but I have not gotten into it. Not sure I understand it. Love your PIF though. #92

  20. Welcome back Sandra. I too signed up for the Steampunk swap and am feeling a bit intimidated as I'm not quite sure which way to proceed...I have my focal image and I've done my background...I'm just waiting on some moveable parts and cogs to arrive from the NT. I'm sure both of ours will turn out ok.
