woyww - technique book and crazy kitty

No Christmas stuff on my desk this week.  The cards are in the mail and the presents all wrapped so I have started making ATC's for a swap.  The reason I am inspired is because Kelsey's ATC technique book arrived and I love it.  I have always admired her ATC's from afar via her blog.  There was no way I could convince DH that it was worth flying to Perth to take one of her workshops.  But, now I have her book and I can pretend I am in her class.  My plan is to slowly work my way through each technique make 2 so I have one in my folder and one to enter into any swaps.

The reason I have had so much time on my hands?  The teenager had her tonsils removed and I have been home for a week.  Playing at my desk all week, BLISS.   Apart from the teenager requesting (via her mobile phone - she is an i generation child) iceblocks, pain meds and some sympathy etc. etc.  I have been pretty much undisturbed.
The cat seems to be enjoying the christmas spirit as well.... currently chewing her way through the decorations!

Off to visit Julia.

  2. I love ATC's, its a challenge to work in such little space. Those little cats find everything!!I'm lucky..they look but don't touch..they don't like me yelling!!! "HEY" and they scamper.
May you and yours have a wonderful holiday and enjoy WOYWW

  7. Lol!! Your daughter could be summoning you by ringing a little bell. Maybe the phone messages are preferable :) I put all the unbreakable, unchewable decs on the bottom of out tree so they don't suffer the same fate!!
Wishing you joy and happiness this Christmas,
    Hugs, LLJ #43 xx

  8. Glad your enjoying the book and I look forward to seeing if I can "pick" the techniques you use! Christmas trees and furries don't generally mix well...particularly young furries! ;-)

  9. Love seeing your cute kitty again! Yep, I nearly made No.1 but I was fluffing around doing copy and paste to get my blog address correct ... just a few seconds difference! The ATC plan is a good one. Look forward to seeing what you do with Kelsey's techniques. BTW, the cake was very good. I will cook No.2 tomorrow night. Funny you mentioning the white choc recipe ... I found it last year, it's great, but mine is really complicated (hehe) - I add currants as well! Glad those Christmas cards are finished for another year!

  13. Anyone would think the poor kitty doesn't get enough food or play things......Our tree is very top heavy as I get more and more annoyed with my elf taking them off and strewing them everywhere. There are also interesting gaps where things keep falling against it (usually bits of sofa as they are made into a house or bus......)Hope your teenager is perked up for Santa's visit ;) Merry Christmas to you and your family x

  14. Smiling at your cat there, chewing the eg off the elf. Sorrel took no notice of the tree when I put it up but barked her head off at my musical snow-globe when I got that out - funny little thing.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.

  15. How come the cat prefers an elf to eat?? Cute!
Nice you are all organised and can now have some quality crafting time with your poorly teenager.
    Have a great Christmas!

  16. Aah it definitely feels good to be ahead of the game! Hope DD is back on her feet soon, but lucky you, having more time to play! When I was a teenager I had a cat that used to like to chew the Christmas tree, until the year she chewed through the Christmas lights that is!! She was very wary of the tree after that! Have a wonderful Christmas.

  19. books are better - you can go at your own pace, and if you struggle most authors, if you ask via their blog, will help you if you can't work out a technique they have described ...

    Happy Christmas Sandra,

  21. Have fun with the ATCs and have a great Christmas.

Gorgeous pussycat. Had to laugh when I saw the photo. I had a real struggle to put the Christmas decs up and dress the tree today, as my kitty was determined to help - especially with the lengths of tinsel. I had to position the baubles so as not to tempt her to play with them or steal them.

  28. Oh dear....I'm scared! My 22 year old daughter has been fighting strep for a few years now and the Dr. thought it best to wait to see if she out grows her yearly battle. Nope! It's worse than ever! A trip in the new year will hopefully see the evil tonsils gone and the illnesses that come with them - GONE too! I hope your daughter recovers soon and is feeling better than ever!
Wishing you a Very Merry Christmas with family and friends and All The Best for a Safe, Happy and Healthy New Year!

  31. Hello Sandra, just popping in late to say I've really enjoyed visiting your blog, and admiring your handiwork throughout the year. It's been fun getting to know you, virtually that is :) I hope your daughter is well on the mend now and looking forward to the festivities. The ATC book looks inspirational so look forward to seeing the ATCs you make in the new year. In the meantime, I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Elizabeth x #46
