woyww - techniques and journals

I have signed up for Andy Skinner's online "Timeworn Techniques" workshop and what you see is the base coat on one of the techniques.  I plan to try a few of the techniques and make lots of backgrounds for future ATC's.
My attempt at chipped and rusty key holes.  Not bad when I think they started out as orange cardstock which were run through the cuttlebag with one of TH diecuts.

Another art journal page. I am starting to use text that I cut out of a book and rearrange the words until they say something!!  Not bad for someone who freezes when I try put my thoughts to paper.
Finally a beautiful ATC from Sylvia.  Thank you.

Off to visit Julia's wonderful world of woyww.

  4. WOW, you've sent me the best one of those rusty keyholes! And I'm really liking what you have done with that journal page. Would love a closer look next time we get together, unless it's all personal stuff :) Forget to tell you before, I have bought a really nice die (from ebay) from a company I haven't seen before and they have lots of other nice ones too. So, if I can get it to work OK in the Cuttlebug, well, I will be very happy!

  7. So has the re-arrangement of words come about through the AS course? If so I need it, I wish i could do things like other do with text. Love those two pages you have done, autumnal feel about them and let's face it, it will be here before we know. Certainly before summer comes LOL.

  20. The flower on Sylvia's ATC must be related to the one I used on a card in my post today-same look, different colors. I've had mine a long time, so funny to see a similar one. I love, love, love your chipped key holes. NO WAY would I believe it started its life as orange cardstock. It looks like real metal, chipped and rusted. That's fabulous. I really like your journal pages too. I'm seeing more and more folks cut out words to spell out a greeting or saying. I have several books I got specifically to cut up so I should jump onto that bandwagon!

  31. Ooh - Andy's course sounds like it's right up my street - I love all that sort of thing! Love your art journal - using pre-printed text as a sort of word soup is a good way to start.

Thanks for the tipoff ref Andy, and thanks for stopping by!

The journal is amazing. I keep meaning to try and start one but haven't had the courage, they always look so arty and out of my comfort zone, maybe that is just what I need.

  36. Oh Sandra, what FUN doing an Andy Skinner workshop! I love his work. I love the keyholes. This is something I might consider doing sometime...

Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog, and for your patience and understanding! I am so behind with everything, having had such a bad week health wise (I take full responsibility for it being self-inflicted but it was worth it as the craft show was such fun!) and I've now got a lot of catching up to do on all fronts, but hopefully not overdoing things again.

    Happy belated WOYWW,
