woyww a desk, card and flowers

The beginning of an art journal page which was then abandoned because I got side tracked by ribbons.

I did try out the TH embossing folder added a smidge of distress inks, glimmermist and a touch of flowers on my first easel card.  All looks a bit brown in the pic when it really is all golden and shimmery!!
Finally, the triffid like flower that is currently flowering in the garden.  No idea what it is called but as I achieved so little at my desk this week I thought I would pretend I have been busy doing other things.

Now off to see the other woyww's...

  3. Hi Sandra, I've seen those triffid flowers around but don't know what they are either.
And I can easily be distracted by ribbon, and often am.

  4. I haven't a cue what your flowers are but they look so nice and I do like blue flowers. They remind me a little of the grape hyacinths I have in my garden but they are very tiny.
That is a pretty card you have made, love the embossing folder and the flower is gorgeous.
    Thanks for sharing

  9. Looks like a lot of us get sidetracked by something!! I usually do when housework needs doing *grin* !!I'm so glad that there's someone else out there who constantly looks things up on the Internet..I'm always checking some new information out..like where Botany is for example. I had a rough idea but now know where it is exactly! (I'm not a stalker, honest, but a Geography/Archaeology graduate and I like to know!!) There's a word for me... oh yes... nosey!!! LOL

  12. It's very easy to get sidetracked by ribbons, I do it frequently but it's usually when my balanced pile of reels fall and unravel all over the floor!!!!
Your card is gorgeous. Love those shiny flowers.
That plant is amazing, wonder what it is!!

  14. Hi Sandra de thanks for popping by. Your card is beautiful. I love the floral spray you have made. The tab to hold your easel card up is something I haven't seen before - stored away for later use I am sure!! Happy WOYWW to you from Helen 5

  15. Hi Sandra,
I have been looking at that gorgeous canvas you did...I love it.
So clean on the background and then the design element is a mass of colour and creativeness. Will wait to see your finished journal page.

  16. ribbon is a devil of distraction, it is almost as evil as glitter for leading astray unwary creators,

the easel card is gorgeous, as are the triffids, and the background will be better for a longer drying time!

  19. I was hoping one of your fellow Australian bloggers could have named the blue plant as now I'm really curious!! I just went searching for it, couldn't find it but got distracted by all the other beautiful flowers you have in your country! Doesn't take much does it!! Lovely get well card, I like ribbon too, it distracts me often! I looked back at your finished canvas using up bits of trash and it's really beautiful, I would agree, make more!

  22. I thought the plant was one found in the south of England that grows really tall but realised you are in Australia. Intrigued now. Great canvas you finished.

  23. They say the camera doesn't lie but I think we cardmakers know different, especially when trying to get a decent shot of anything that has a shine, sheen, glitter and metal on it. Having said all that, I think your card is lovely. No idea what your plant is but it's beautiful too. Happy WOYWW and I hope you have a lovely week. Elizabeth x #12

  26. Oh, I like those flowers! I enjoyed your comment that you haven't done much at the desk so you'd show the garden so you could pretend you've been busy. I love the easel card. I think I have that embossing folder, but haven't used it in awhile. Isn't that something how the shimmery stuff loses it in photographs? Often it just looks like smudged ink. It looks good smudged but I'll bet it looks even better shimmery!

  31. Hi Sandra,

Your card is beautiful. I saw some glimmer mist in the store and wondered how you use it -- you just spray it on the card?

The flowers are beautiful. It looks so tall.

Thanks for visiting me already. I'm slowly getting around this week.

  35. I love the shabby chicness of the card and the gorgeous flowers. I also do some journalling, love colouring the pages but don't get round to doing much of the writing stuff. 2 of my friends from England now live in Sidney and they love Australia. I shall visit one day but going to South Africa in Jan for 9 weeks first. Always take some crafting to do with me in between playing golf.

  36. I don't think it's side-tracking Sandra...isn't it multi-tasking? ;D
Receiving that Get Well card would make anyone feel so much better...it's beautiful plus a tidy desk you must be thrilled :D
Thanks for visiting me earlier...have a great weekend!

  38. I love your big huge green craft mat that's on your desk! I wish I had one that big!

I tend to start one thing and then abandon it for another all the time! I must have ADD or something!

I love your card!! I want to try highlighting some embossing now that I have some Distress Inks. Yours is gorgeous!

Your flowers are beautiful! Did you ever figure out what they are?
