woyww- petri dish monoprint

What you see are my "Gelli Plate" prints also nicknamed "Petri dish experiments" by the family.  Lots of fun, easy to do and ultimately great backgrounds for art journal pages with minimum of fuss or thought.

The Gelli Plate is hiding underneath the finished prints.  The blue basket on the right is new and currently storing bits and pieces left over from last week.  The plan is I will pack everything away!  Time will tell.

Off to visit woyww ....

  1. Wow, the gelli plate/petri dish things are coming along nicely! Lots of potential there. The only problem with the morphing business is that neither the card or the canvas are anywhere near finished. I will be giving them both some attention tomorrow. (But I am rather pleased with those backgrounds, thank you for the inspiration!)

  4. Hi and thanks for stopping by. Dare I say my old heat gun still works but is the noisy more precise kind which blows all the embossing powder away! Oh and the watch parts are VERY small, I think, on reflection, clock parts would have been better. Hubby got both from Ebay. Love your backing papers. BJ #30

  21. Hi Sandra,

Those backgrounds look great! I can see how they got their name. Now, I also visited your post from last week because I saw the word pathetic and thought "that just can't be." And sure enough, I'm right. I left a comment on that post also.

    Thanks for visiting me already!

    Happy WOYWW

  26. I've heard of this, but never done it or seen it done. Depending on the size of your art journal, these will give you starting points for lots of pages! Happy WOYWW from Laura #153

  28. Oh wow! I have that same petri dish experiment as your lower left one growing in the fridge. I think it growled at me earlier in the day. I really like your experiments better than mine. They will look great in the art journal.

Poppy, Jack and I thank you for your kind words. Poppy is standing between the keyboard and the monitor right now.

  32. I was SURE I had been here, but here it is almost time for the next WOYWW and I'm just now getting here. I'm a dufus. And a SLOW dufus, at that!! I have lusted for one of those gelli plates since the first time I saw one. But they are just a bit too pricey for my lowly craft budget. I sure love your backgrounds. They are so colorful and awesome!!
