woyww- wet on wet

My finished "wet on wet technique" drying on my desk.  The idea being you wet the paper and then add brushes of watercolour and see what happens.  An exercise to empty one's mind and go with the flow.  As you can see my mind was a pine forest.

Most of my desk is covered by the painting board. But you can see my handy paper towel with gumnut motifs  (I often notice prints on paper towels when I visit woyww... strange I know!) and my bottle of water.  Bottled water is frowned on in our house.  But it has stopped me washing my watercolour brushes in my drink.
Finally a pic of my craft room floor with kitty sound asleep with twitching paw. I hope to get around and visit a number of desks on woyww for a dose of inspiration.

  10. I just love watching a cat sleep with a twitching paw.
Love your wet on wet. That looks so misty - hope you are going to add to it, it would make a fabulous backdrop for some intense painting.

  13. Your watercolour is amazing - so calming and serene. It's beautiful!
One of my cats sleeps like that - it's so weird! *lol* Even stranger is when she flips the top half of her body right round to almost face in the opposite direction of her tail and hind legs.
Your cat is adorable - so many kitties on or near desks this week - and I love seeing the photos of them all :)
    Have a wonderful WOYWW!
    Best wishes from Bubbles

  16. Ha i thought you were talking about the UK weather there, Sandra, although it's actually quite dry at the minute!!!!
Love the look of your painting there, all soft and serene. I wondered the same as Annie, will you add to it or leave it all misty.

  17. Twitching paw? Never mind that - what about the elastic hip bones!! You'd pay good money to be a grown up and that bendy!!
I get the thing about kitchen roll motifs, all thse sort of details say a lot about our supermarket cultures dont you think. Love your wet on wet results, it's a bit of a leap of faith isn't it, letting the water do some of the painting for you. I don't have enough control in the dry; mine would end up as muddy puddles, for sure.

  20. You do wonder how cats an be so utterly comatose when in a position like that!! They know they're cool even when asleep :)
And your watercolours are fab, you've got the knack of getting that dreamy, wistful look just right....
Your drinking bottle will save many a slip twist cup and lip.....sorry, old saying there!!

  21. The wet on wet pine forest looks lovely - such a soft effect. But my vote today goes to the superstar kitty on the floor -my ginger fuball is currently snoring with his nose pressed to the very hot radiator :-)

  29. So lovely to see this watercolour effect! So delicate and fun by the looks of it! Yours is the first blog I have come across using stretched paper, I haven't used masking tape before though! I have just stretched some cartridge paper and hopefully will get a chance to play....sometime this year! maybe using your technique if I have any watercolour paints left!!!! TFS!

  35. With "scrap" cardboard or packaging (which other people would put straight in the recycling bin) I just automatically think "Cuttlebug". But I understand how you would think about decorating the top. I have resisted the urge to do that because all boxes must be able to be piled on top of each other:) As a matter of fact, DH just went past and said "What are you doing with all those Earl Grey boxes?" Answer: "Well there's stuff in them all, of course". Really! There's only four of them piled on top of each other!
