woyww - paper and roses

This week the desk is a slow work in progress.  Adding the paper inserts into the journal book started last week.   I also have the watercolour pallet left over from painting roses.  You can see them in the top  left hand corner on my desk shelf right next to the lamb and kitty.  Once again watching tutorials on youtube or glued to pinterest and then realise Wednesday has rolled around again.

The never ending problem I have with water bloom is on full display.  Could probably name this "Rose waterblooms"!   I still have to sort this problem out. I am probably overloading the brush with water and do not notice until it has dried.  Just have to move on, keep painting and visit a few woyww desks.

  3. I love the blooms- both the roses and the paint!
Watercolor is magical and it does it's own thing.

  4. Hi Sandra,
I don't know what's "wrong" with your watercolours, they look pretty good to me.
Just seeing your book in progress has given me an idea. I'd better write it down before it goes.
No WOYWW this week ... too busy making "art" :) Catch you soon.

  5. So we are of an opinion....what's wrong...nothing! The watercolor roses are beautiful. If I'm understanding your viewpoint, it's because the bottom of the center and left flower are sort of faded out? I'm sure you'll work it out. As far as the rest of us....they will only become even more fabulous! Happy WOYWW! Nan G #7

  12. You say there is a problem with your roses painting but I don't see it!! I LOVE the dreamy, soft quality of your roses....don't change what you're doing, it's fab!
And I'm so excited that a parcel is coming, how exciting, woohoo :-). It makes it even more exciting that it is coming by sea, romantic somehow! (And nothing to do with the fact that its cheaper...grin)
    Thank you in advance!

Thanks for visiting - yes, we have had a difficult year with hubby's health, so it will be great to just go away and not have to think about anything much, just relax - and craft - and do jigsaws....
    Have a great week.

  26. Beautiful, beautiful roses, very dreamy and ethereal. Is the problem you're alluding to on the leaf at the bottom left? I used to have that happen when I was watercolouring stamping images, it was usually caused by too much water but I could never catch it in time either. Love the DNA reference, never spotted that!!

  30. I love the unintended effect you have got here on the roses. I would love to be able to do something like this. I like to fiddle too much so watercolours are not for me. #51

  32. I don't think you have anything to "sort out" I love it! the blooms are a perfect accent to the flowers! But I will tel you the reason you get a "bloom" in the paint is because you have a puddle of water that dries slower than the rest of the painting, that puddle pushed the pigment out to the edge creating the hard edged ruffle you see. To avoid this after you are done painting while the paper is wet dip a dry brush in the puddle to such up the extra water. That said I the blooms are perfect on that card! Happy WOYWW! Lindsay #28

  33. I'm not reading the previous comments, Sandra, but my guess is that everyone is loving the roses just the way they are and I'm adding my vote of pleasure, as well. They look so ethereal, like roses through a fog. I LOVE them! Happy WOYWW and have a wonderful week! Thanks for the visit to me! Darnell #22

  34. Watercolor gives me fits because I always get too much water or not enough paint or it runs out at the wrong moment, so I surely can't give you any advice on it. I can say that I like your roses as is. They are unique and nifty looking.

  35. I see a bit of dry bloom on the green, but otherwise don't see it. Indeed, it looks like the roses have magically appeared of their own accord, they are simply lovely. Yes do more...keep doing them becuase you can..they're lovely.

  39. The roses look beatiful and the blurry effect is what I love about watercolours. If you don't want that effect it is a slow build up of colours on top of each layer but you have to wait for each one to dry. The wait always kills me when I'm in a mood to paint. Your doing wonderful :) hugs Nikki 37
