woyww - fruit and vege theme continue

A busy week with work and family commitments.  But I do have a couple of pics of the summer fruits I have been painting. Firstly the nectarines from my last post.
Mangoes growing in our back garden.  We have fourteen on our little tree DH is very proud of his crop.
Solo mango brought inside ready for the chop. Finally a bunch of spanish onions which I bought because they still had their stems and I thought they would look pretty in watercolours.
Pleased with how they have turned out.  Finding myself abandoning attempts at painting landscapes and now sticking with solid objects.   DH tells me it just reflects my country/farm upbringing and he is probably right as my next subject will be beady eyed chickens.  Which always bring a smile to my face.

Have a lovely woyww.

  1. Hi Sandra,
The fruit and veg are looking good, especially the nectarines with their shadows. But I hope you don't give up the landscapes, or streetscapes (like the Vietnam ones), because they are really lovely too!
I might do a post later, not sure. Awfully busy :( but lunch in March would be great. Any Wednesday should be OK? Let me know what suits you :)

  5. Oh how I would love to eat a Mango, I am highly allergic to them, such a pity really as I could just about have an intensive care visit for a week to eat one. Excellent watercolours especially love the Spanish onions.

  8. Lovely paintings and how fab to be growing mangoes! You can make a lovely filling for pancakes with them, add apple, melted toffees, sultanas, butter and brown sugar, heat all in a pan and stop counting the calories for a while! YUM

  30. Oooh what gorgeous paintings, Sandra. They all look good enough to eat! Thank you for your sweet comment. Things are very bad here at the moment and I barely coping. All that is happening is being laid on top of my existing M.E. which already has me at low par, and I am finding Mum's selfish behaviour incomprehensible and so stressful. This time next week I will be in theatre and I'm terrified...

  31. Ah Sandra, lovely work very clever, enjoy them all great crop for hubby he should be proud!!!
I think it's all groundwork, re your current theme in painting...my dad who has painter has taken years to do portraits happily and other type of mediums.. It is all what you are comfortable and observant in too... Time limiting means you don't have more hours to do a landscape..
    Lovely work,
