woyww - tulips

Happily painting tulips this week and really enjoying the process.  A very simple watercolour technique  that I had to try as it required an oriental brush.  Luckily I bought one last year in Vietnam (as you do when travelling around). After watching You Tube and following Martha Lever's steps I am set to go.  The photo was taken on the side to avoid my great big shadow..... don't want you to think I am painting in this position.

Have a great woyww and my plan is to have a peek at lots of desks.

  1. I love your tulips and had a little giggle at the thought of you lying down to paint.....think the paint would run up your arm :-)

  7. Oh, lovely tulips! (not from Amsterdam) Interesting you write about an oriental brush. Unfortunately it just popped outside the frame of the picture, so I did not get a good look at it. What makes it different?
    Thanks for visiting earlier,
    Have a great week,

  10. Seeing you using this brush makes me feel a bit guilty as I know I have a brush like that and it's probably never been used. I love the tulips and hope to see more of your painting in the future. many thanks for the visit to mine and have a great week and happy woyww, Angela x 29

  11. Ah, you see, really the painting ought to be upside down as you're in the Antipodes..... ;-)
I love those big fat Oriental brushes...the way that Chinese calligraphers just seem to have such total control over the movement of the inks is amazing. They seem to be perfect for tulips too, as your paintings are fab!!

  14. Love those tulips, and the simple line frame around the picture in the book. Those oriental paintbrushes are full of mystery for me...they seem to produce the most delicate of works...my word you have a light touch.

  15. Gorgeous tulips, what lovely paintings they are. Are you going to frame them? As for the Chinese brush, I look at them and think how lovely it would be to paint with one - glad you enjoyed the experience.

  19. Wonderful work here Sandra, well done on using Chinese brush work.
I have had an hour tutorial on it years ago now, bought a book and brush and not much further along, but look at yours, I love their bright boldness, well done!!

  22. These tulips are so fabulous! Wowzah! you are a superb tulip maker. That oriental brush certainly looks interesting. I think I could handle that better than a regular brush. Thanks for the visit earlier and I had a good laugh over your comment: the cat butt is perfect for any entrance to a house. Judy #50
