cards and gum leaves

Whenever I go for a walk I seem to come home with hands and pockets full of feathers, rocks and leaves that I plan to paint.  This week an assorted collection of gum leaves.   Showed it to DS as I was fishing for a compliment and asked "do they look realistic?" and he replied "They're leaves mum. Save yourself some time and just take a photo".  He did have a point ...lol.

Also busy using up a few watercolour flowers for a selection of cards made for the school fete this weekend.  Lots more in a box and hopefully they will sell.  Always surprising how little people want to pay for craft.  But, as it is for a good cause hopefully people will be generous.

Have a lovely woyww peek and I promise to slowly visit desks.

  1. The colours of the leaves are lovely & that is one reason why I just lovely Autumn so much seeing all the leaves turning colour. Isn't mother nature just so clever.

  2. Love those leaves... And yes, if they were even more realistic, you could have taken a photo, but what would you do with your time ? :) You are right about paying for craft, my parents once sold their neighbours a large watercolour I had done, taking the price of the frames and telling me I could just do a new one :( thanks for your visit and happy woyww!

  5. Oh, I know all about crafts and the costs..I remember it well from my craft fair days. People would query paying for my stuff when they were actually holding a Cath Kidston bag, that cost three times as much as I was charging!! Words failed me.
Your leaves ARE realistic btw, but your son's comment made me laugh a lot! Direct and to the point, huh?

  8. OMG - is that a photo or watercolours? I honestly can't tell! If that's a painting - well, it's just amazing! I've given up on asking the opinions of my family about my art - they haven't got a clue, LOL! Lovely flowers too - they make happy just looking at them! Have a great week Sandra! zsuzsa @ InkyDinkyDoodle #34

  9. Lovely watercolours Sandra. I too find peoples stinginess when it comes to paying for 'craft' disappointing - they seem to want to pay less than something mass produced from China. Well some of us like to be more discerning, Good luck Jackie #23

  10. Hi Sandra, the leaves I have just finished making are not as gorgeous as these and the cards are lovely. I hope they are prints and not the originals!
Have a great week and happy crafting, Angela x 24

  11. I think your leaves are lovely, Sandra so I wouldn't take your DS' comments to heart. It's much more fun painting them than just snapping them with your camera anyway. They remind me of the colours around here at the moment, although I suspect they'll be all the ground tomorrow as it's got very windy this afternoon. Glad you like my little Violas. The yellow one is called Etain and it has the most amazing scent, even this late in the year.
    Have a good week

  12. Hi Sandra, your leaves are so realistic they could almost be a photo. The colours are gorgeous. You are so right about peoples attitude to crafted items, they usually want them for pennies, the same attitude exists over here too.All we can do is not give in to it. Its good to be back, have a great week, hugs,Shaz xx

  20. Hi Sandra de,
The wisdom of children! Your leaves look amazing, as do your flowers for the school benefit. I agree with you about people not understanding exactly what is involved in hand made items.

    Happy belated WOYWW,
Thank you for visiting me already!

  21. Hi Sandra, I have just discovered your blog and absolutely love your watercolours - you are very talented! Your gum leaves and violas are just gorgeous. I have done some loose sketches of my violas but keep intending to do a more detailed watercolour. You have inspired me!

  22. I think those leaves are stunning - they are realistic, but they're also way more than a photo could ever be and they would look wonderful in a frame on the wall. The cards are beautiful too, I hope they raise lots of money for your charity :o)

  25. Your leaves are amazing. They do look so realistic. I had to look twice to make sure they weren't an arrangement of the real thing. My son is just the same. Happy WOYWW!
