woyww - two little birds sitting on my desk

This months tutorial is a sweet european robin.  Started the sketch and then came to a stop thinking I should be painting a species of robin that is native to my part of the world.  Found a pic and of the south eastern robin and that was the last time I even looked at my desk.   Do I paint the drab little brown robin or the drab little red robin?

I do wish I had more to show this week :(

  1. Paint them both Sandra. You have such a talent and we love to see what you do that I am sure it would not matter to anyone looking as you would have created a beautiful picture anyway.

  3. What a quandary, Sandra! Here in Scotland it would be Robin Redbreast every time but your native one has the sweetest white breast so I can understand your dilemma. In the end I think either would be wonderful.

Happy WOYWW and have a wonderful week.

  5. I've got to say the robin redbreast is my fav little bird so it goes without saying which I'd choose.
Have a good week painting which ever you choose.

  6. Hi Sandra. You could indeed paint both... I would go for the little robin red breast - but then I'm British... so biased.
    Thanks fore visiting already.
    Take care. God bless.

  10. Maybe you could brighten up your drab little brown robin by having him sitting on a branch with bright red berries, or crab apples! Thanks for sharing, Lindart #41

  16. Aw, ah e paint the little brown robin but cheer him up with a red breast...art is intrpretative after all! Fairly sure your rendition will not be drab either. Perhaps a Cardinal will be more inspiring for you?!!

  18. Here you are, Sandra... this is not dull or drab!! http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/forum/Red-capped-Robin-1
It's a dinkum Aussie really beautiful.
A great choice Sandra, mind you the drab English one with red breast is beautiful in real life but red capped one beats Him hands down, with strong contrasts in black red and white.
    A winner for sure!!
Happy belated WOYWW! Thanks for sharing,

  19. Thanks for your visit earlier - the cooker's cooking well.
I love me a Robin, we have a very brave one in our garden, never waits for us to leave! I think he follows us everywhere as there is one on the client's garden as well. Such cheerfulness!
    Have a good week
