woyww- a succulent!

Painted a succulent for this months tutorial.

But, got into a pickle with the green I choose.  Anna Mason uses Winsor Newton w/c paints and I use Daniel Smith and usually I can remember to substitute WN names for the ones I am using.  Not this time.  Happily painting away and realised half way through I was using the  wrong green.  These days I just keep going ... finish the job and move on to the next painting.  Life is too short to stress about mistakes.

Happy woyww and I promise to slowly visit lots of desks over the next couple of day.

  1. The green looks pretty good to me. I think it's quite realistic, is it not?
I must find out how you did that watermark. Was it incredibly fiddly?

...I know I've seen succulents just that colours, my nanna had a big selection of ones not often seen these days and pretty sure one was like this. I think it's grand.
Well, your comment on my colouring is really a compliment from you, must confess wasn't quite sure about it myself. Funny, aren't we??!!
I scrolled down ... that cupcake with blueberry p, definitely edible!!! And love the bee p, he is really amazing, such clever work,

  4. I think it's a wonderful shade of green - it emphasizes the chalky nature of those leaves. I know those plants very well - my grandma used to have them. She would get really mad at us for pushing our nails into the leaves when we were kids, but we just couldn't help it! It think it's perfection itself! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #22

  5. Hi Sandra, I think it loks great- just the right sort of grey/green for a succument, so I agree, no stress required. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #5 XxX

  6. It's only a mistake if it looks wrong and I must say this looks perfect. I love it.

  7. Oh my what beautiful artwork! I love your paintings! Amazing and delightful! Watercolour is a wonderful medium but so difficult to use. I wish I could colour in my stamped images but I always end up with a muddy mess. I am surprised you think that your succulent painting is the wrong green,my pants looks just like your painting...maybe my plants are the wrong green?.... Happy WOYWW day! Anne #7

  22. ...and that's the whole point isn't it - paint for the sake of painting and not for the authenticity of repro. Especially as lesser brains like mine wouldn't have had a clue as o which shade of green this succulent should be! looks as if I could pick it right off the page....
