woyww - next painting

My desk on a Wednesday night looks dark and dingy.  The Attacus Atlas moth is sitting on my easel as I try to decide whether to paint the moth or do February's tutorial (a coconut) with Anna Mason.  The only similarity between the two subjects is the colour.  I just cannot get inspired by a coconut so I might paint the moth.  All too hard so I am going to leave the moth on the desk until I make a decision.

Last weeks wreath with a few additions just before it gets popped in the mail.

Have a lovely woyww peek and I promise to visit slowly over the next few days.

  4. Love the finished wreath Sandra. I'm not a fan of moths but the coconut sounds like an interesting challenge with all the hair and texture on the outside with liquid and a smooth inside. Have a good week. Sarah #23

  5. Wow, that moth is stunning! I've got a soft spot for illustrations like that. There is a butterfly house in the local botanic gardens and there was a Goliath Moth in there which was ginormous, about 7" across!
And the only good thing about coconuts is Pina Colada...... ;-)

  6. I would definitely go for the moth too, a coconut doesn't sound appealing to me either... I love your painting skills! Happy woyww and a warm hug from Holland, Marit #26

  8. Hi Sandra, lovely work again and the moth is stunning. Yes I do use the pens with stamps and I also like to apply it to n acrylic block, spray it with water and dab it onto water colour paper to build up a background. Thanks for the visit to mine and hope you have a very happy woyww, Angela x17x

  9. Sandra, LOVE that moth! Good choice! LOLOL Lunch Lady Jan sent me over here to look at your lovely artwork and it did NOT disappoint! I am in love with watercolor, and am a TOTAL beginner, and am searching for technique and clarity, etc.... I've noticed that you take Anna's classes? You are such an amazing artist on your own, so just wondering if you've found that taking her classes helped your art? I've seen her online and was curious as to her classes. So glad I dropped by your blog, so beautiful! Blessings for the rest of your week! Felicia, #32

  10. The wreath truly is gorgeous but the moth is looking fab - yet the coconut should be a challenge! Problems in choosing!

  11. Sandra, your paintings are simply stunning - that moth is amazing! Very well done. Thank you for your lovely comment and your good wishes for my upcoming operation. As for organised - I do feel a bit more organised now than I have done for the past couple of months! I did quite a bit of cooking today and we will have lots of things ready for when I come out of hospital. Glad you enjoyed the kitties!

    Happy WOYWW,

  15. I think I would do the Moth too! We have some of these huge Luna moths and a swallowtail butterfly here in OK that are beautiful. The wreath is beautiful! Whoever is the happy recipient will love it! Have a great week! Vickie #36
