Hardly an exciting woyww desk but it does show my new moleskin watercolour notebook which arrived on Tuesday after I placed the order online Sunday. How good is that and I think I was in my pj's when I ordered and when it arrived. I have been using cheap notebooks that I buy from the $2 dollar store. Sometimes the quality of the paper is ok other times it is terrible. I have finally had enough of cheap paper and bought a moleskin.
This weeks SBS class was with Cathy Johnson and the focus has been on nature sketching and painting.
My version of the Eastern Yellow Robin. He was sitting beautifully in a tree and moved around for a couple of different poses ..... I know he looks like 3 different birds! I got good value out of his moving around.
Have a lovely woyww and I will slowly visit lots of desks over the week.
Beautiful birds, such lovely colours, you are very talented.

It looks like a productive work space! xx Jan (57)
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra, your painting of the robin is lovely. I'm part way through a water colouring class but I will never be able to paint anything like this ... you are so talented. I've never seen a yellow robin, only the red robins that are common over here. Enjoy your new moleskin and have a great week. Elizabeth x #53
ReplyDeleteThose dollar store books can be hit and miss but are great for when your starting out. We don't get yellow robins here so it's nice to see them in different colours :) hugs Nikki 8
ReplyDeleteOh I do love that bird! It's amazing that a few seemingly simple brush strokes, in the right colours, can bring it to life so completely! Wonderful stuff!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW!

Seriously, everything improves if you can get hold of the best quality stuff! I'm sure you'll be happy every time you open that moleskin book.
ReplyDeleteLove that robin...you have a knack of grasping the essence of something in a few strokes...clever gal!

Your painting is awesome and I love your birds. They look so lifelike. I can image him hopping around the tree. I'm sure you'll love your new moleskin and paper you can rely on every time.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your new journal. Hope the paper is all you expect. Love the painting of the bird(s). Hugs and Happy WOYWW! Nan G #61
ReplyDeleteI think using the best quality you can always makes for a better outcome. You'll feel all warm and happy every time you open that moleskin book :-)
ReplyDeleteThat little yellow robin is cute! You always manage to capture the essence of something with minimum brush strokes...that's a skill :-)
Hi Sandra,
ReplyDeleteFabulous watercolour birds! I will look forward to seeing the Moleskin IRL :) They are always wrapped up when I have seen them in shops.
Lunch in 2 weeks should be fine.
I really need (ok, want!) a new moleskin journal, I miss mine (I filled it up!) so I like your happy desk today! Thanks for visiting, I'm a bit late repaying the visit! Helen. 7

Your watercolour bird is amazing- so beautiful. Isn't internet shopping a wonderful thing, although I'm pretty sure my credit card would not agree, lol. Have a great week, Hugs, Shax #6 xxx

YAY for happy mail, the birds look so cool. I keep saying I am going to take some classes one of these days. I am loving what you are making :)

It always seems funny to see the word "robin" applies to a bird that is so far removed from our robin with its red breast. Having got over that, your painting is really lovely, and how good that he posed so beautifully for you. You should be so proud of your work. Thank you for your visit and your comments on my 55 minute card. The Lady's Smock always seems to grow at the edge of the lawn, but mine seemed to be drowned out of existence last winter, so I now have some seeds ready to get going for next spring. I hope you have a great week. xx Maggie #32

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely bird study.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me earlier, sorry I am so late I have been on holiday - Hugs, Neet xx 13
You'll be so happy with better tools or in this case wonderful notebooks! Thanks so much for visiting my blog earlier in the week. The fun foam under the non-stick mat is working nicely, except I have to remember to take it out when I'm not stamping,it's a bit spongy for putting a crease on a paper fold lol. #37
ReplyDeleteOh and this piece is just stunning too!!! You are just talented, that's all there is to it!
