woyww - colour mixing charts

Not often I get to post photos of my latest obsession.  Haha

Currently exploring all the colour palettes I have tucked away in my desk.  Then I thought I should document a swatch of each colour in a sketchbook.

That led me to doing a bit of reading on colour theory.

So I started mixing using a colour wheel.  But I didn't find it really helped me learn to mix colours.

Moved on to the grid colour chart.  Quickly overwhelmed with so many colours.

Tried a smaller colour grid with a limited palette.
Getting a bit better.

By this time I have watched numerous Youtube clips and purchased a book on Colour Theory.

Then I found the colour mixing tutorial by Alek Krylow and this works for me.
Far more ordered and makes sense.

It allows me to mix eg.  blues and yellows,  resulting in a vast range of green values.

I plan to do this with all my colours.
Could take me until the end of the year.

Finished the oriental Lily.
Kept a light touch and achieved some form in the leaves and bulbs.

I plan to visit lots of desks over the next few days.
stay safe and have a creative week.

woyww - lily in pink

Slowly working on a pink oriental lily and trying to keep

the washes light and not overwork the painting.

Time will tell if I achieve a light touch.

Have a wonderfully creative week.

woyww (late) - done and dusted

Charlie relaxing on her watercolour cushion, thinking about her next meal probably.

Before I cleaned the palette I  painted up a few cards.
Quick brush strokes and a touch of metallic paint.

Not a lot of thought or planning ....which is good as I can really over think
the most simple of projects.

Enjoy your Easter festivities .... stay safe and keep creating.
