woyww - sneer versus teeth

An attempt at painting an almost 2 year old with a "sneer" makes me question why I chose
that photo to paint.

So much simpler to paint Elli with a full set of doggie teeth.

Have a lovely WOYWW peek at desks.
I have set a reminder to come back next week for the 10th anniversary.

  1. Oh Sandra, you made my day. Lovely to see you on here and with not just one but two of your wonderful pieces of art. Both are lovely but the dog, Ellie, is absolutely fantastic. I always think animals (fur AND feathers) are so difficult to paint but you make them look a walk in the park.
    Have a lovely week.

  5. Sandra, your paintings are phenomenal. I remember back when you were first starting painting. These are utterly gorgeous and that dog is out of this world. Those eyes, especially. Happy WOYWW from #2.

  12. You are seriously talented. Both paintings are fabulous but I did not realise at first that the dog was not the real animal. Fantastic work. xxx Maggie (Silvercrafter) #22

  13. Wonderful and extremely well done Sandra .. yes Elli is exceptional and life like but the wee sneering lassie is great too.
Hopefully don’t lose this for some reason blogger embedded comment boxes are unstable plus. Tell on latest post how to fix if interested.
Happy belated WOYWW, Shaz in Oz.x #20

  14. Your work is just stunning and I don't see a sneer at all ... both pieces are simply amazing! Thanks for popping by my desk earlier - the "finished piece" is currently undergoing MAJOR tweaking as I have totally ruined it. Hubby is undoing the staples on the back of the canvas so I might have a chance of rescuing the tiny part I liked ... but time will tell! Love from Debbie xXx

  15. Hi Sandra! Long time no see! I almost forgot how incredibly good you are with realistic watercolours! The painting of Elli is just unbelievable! I honestly don't know how you do it. Realistic human portraits are probably the most challenging things to paint, especially with watercolours, but you did a marvellous job with that too! Lovely to see you again - hope you'll be back next week for the big #520! zsuzsa #21
