woyww - watercolours

Painting flowers (freestyle) which I find very relaxing as it just empties my mind.   I adore botanical watercolours but, do not have the talent nor the patience.  So I paint imaginary flowers.

A couple of pics from my journal.

A landscape done quickly on the way down the California coast, minus the telegraph poles and lanes of highway of course!

Just to show that I do branch out occasionally a pic of a hat made famous in the "Breaking Bad" series. DH pointed out that it was first made famous by Popeye Doyle in the "French Connection"but that just shows our age.

  1. Hi Sandra, The watercolours are great! I especially like the misty "highway"! Catch you soon.

  2. You make watercolors look easy, but to me, they are just messy, inky blobs. I love what you do, though.

I got to see Breaking Bad one week right before it went off the air. AMC showed all the shows in order. I had my VCR going double time (grin). Sadly, I don't remember that hat. Guess I had my eyes closed a lot due to all the violence.

Happy WOYWW from #1 and thanks for visiting already.

  6. I don't really ever use paper for those die cuts. Just too fragile. That's another reason why I keep all sorts of packaging (to put through the Cuttlebug) and then you can colour it any way you want. Lately I have been painting them with H2Os. Having a good time doing CJS14 but probably a good thing it's nearly over :)

  14. I would LOVE to be able to just swish a brush and get a great result like you can...the only time that happens with me is when I'm decorating, lol! I love that landscape, almost abstract but you can see how the land lies. Brilliant!

  34. Your paintings are so lovely and show such talent. The flowers are gorgeous, but the landscape is awesome. I wish I could do half that well. Thank you for your visit. I have to catalogue my stamps as I have found two or three duplicates, just because I don't know where it all is. I did get to sort all my stencils and masks today, which is another job over and done with. Have a lovely week. xx Maggie #2

  36. Beautiful flowers!! I can't paint at all so these are amazing to me. The last time I went to Kew I spent about an hour looking at the botanical paintings - the detail is just amazing, I really don't know how they did it. Haven't watched the breaking bad yet tho we have the box set - hubby got it as a Christmas pressie. The focus group was actually quite fun and not too taxing - I have been threatening to outsource the cleaning for years but fear it is now too late - I doubt I will even need it after my eldest moves out in a couple of weeks!! Thanks for the visit, Cindy

  42. Hi Sandra, Just taking the opportunity whilst I can (my Internet connection is pretty patchy at the moment, sigh!) to visit. Your watercolours are lovely, especially the landscape - without the telegraph poles, etc., it looks idyllic. Like you, I adore botanical watercolours but can't paint for toffee so instead collect books of prints instead. Sadly, I had no idea who Popeye Doyle was and had to look it up ... great hat :) A belated happy WOYWW, Elizabeth x #70
