A request for another canvas has me at my desk once again working on building layers of glimmermist over a gessoed canvas.
This is the first coat of the "Patina"colour over the stencilled area. Strict instructions that it must be blue and only blue. But, I will sneak a little green onto the canvas when the teenager leaves the room.
My final project is a completed ATC using texture paste as the background, then painted and stamped. I am really enjoying Kelsey's ATC technique book.
Off to visit Julia's WOYWW and admire all the other wonderful desks.
Loving your ATC and the canvass looks beautiful love that blue will have to pop back and see end result.Teenagers i have 2 so know what your on about!

I'm in love with that canvas. I just recently purchased two of those glimmer mists and love them. They are pretty special. I hope you show the finished canvas when it's finished.
ReplyDeleteLove the effects you get on your canvasses but I'm with the blue request [I'm not a green person when it comes to colour choice].

Your canvas is looking great - but won't they notice the green - lol.
ReplyDeleteLove your ATC too, all that lovely texture.
Thanks for visiting my desk earlier. I've been thinking about enrolling for the second She-Art class but wasn't sure whether I'd get as much out of it as the first one. It sounds as though you did though. I've really enjoyed making the She-Art dolls, in fact they became a bit of (another) addiction!
green is blue, with a bit of yellow....
ReplyDeletedid you get neo 11's caran d'ache?
I love my wax water colour caran d'ache
they have a lovely shade(s) of blue and green...I'm about to try out the martha stewart antique patina medium as it was v. cheap ( I think the price on it was wrong, and I thought if I bought five bottle they might cotton on....so I quickly bought one.)

Mmmm... lovely - am sure she will love it. I do like the atc face and the background to it is gorgeous. Hugs, Neet xx 11
ReplyDeleteA beautiful blue canvas - I could happily live with it just as it is! A hint of green will make it more sea-like... It's a beautiful yet introspective ATC - you obviously made it for a reason. Not all crafting has to be sweetness and light, does it?
ReplyDeleteHugs, LLJ #43 xx
PS 27 degrees...pah.. me jealous? No sirree, nada.....can you tell I'm fibbing!!
Love your canvas and the colour and the touch of green will be perfect - don't forget to let us see it when finished. I have about a quarter inch of patina left as I use it so much.

ReplyDeleteThat canvas looks wonderful as it is now, I can't imagine what you will do next to it! And then I thought, well I will see it in Google Reader when you post the finished project...and then noticed I wasn't a follower, but I am sure I was before? Anyway, no worries, I am again :)

Love your recent creations ...cant wait to see the next stage of the canvas ...and the ATC is exciting.
ReplyDeleteI love the texture on your canvas. I am self taught and don't know many ways of doing things. Is it done with a stencil and thick gesso over that? Would love to know how to do it.

Thank you for your welcome I too have 2 teenagers that keep me on my toes and up worrying now that the eldest is at University!! We have 3 cats that rule the house and the one in my craft cupboard is the boss! I made some ATC's yesterday, my first in well over a year but nowhere near as artistic as yours, i look on with envy and have tried to produce something near your wonderful creation and I fail so i keep to cutting and sticking xxx One Day maybe i will get something that resembles something, anything maybe lol Lou x#94
ReplyDeleteThe texture on your canvas is so very cool. Please post photos of the finished product. Your ATC is cool too -- need to try to make some!!!

ReplyDeleteKatie (112)
Yes definitely add a bit of green. I am having a rest from making little frocks - I have been making children's dressing up outfits for a friend instead!! Have a good week. x Jo
ReplyDeleteLovely textured ATC! I'm trying to improve my ATC-ness myself so the more fun things I see to inspire me, the better. I agree about sneaking some green into the canvas.
ReplyDeleteThat canvas is a beautiful colour ! I love the stencilling will be back to see it when it's finished :-) Have a good week !

Patina blue is one of my face glimmer mists because it goes with so many other colours. Can't wait to see how the canvas turns out. Texture looks scummy already.
ReplyDeleteLeandra
Beautiful canvas and great work. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI just love that canvas with the gesso'ed surface - gorgeous! I bought some really cheap canvases from Lidl the other day and am keen to do some more mixed media stuff soon - I adore texture! Great ATC too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment on my blog. The defunct drive out of my NAS drive is on its way back to Seagate now, so hopefully I'll get the replacement next week. I really miss the ability to back up wirelessly!
Hoping also that my health is starting to pick up again now - having a few better days interspersed between the bad ones, and taking advantage of them to work on an Inkscape drawing I am doing of a Celtic knot design that I want to use Sheba to emboss in metal... Quite an ambitious project for a beginner but I'm determined to have a go!
Not sure what I shall do with the moulds yet but have got one idea for a mixed media canvas for one of the big ones.
