woyww- recycled junk art

On my desk is a little box covered in rubbish.  I continue to tinker with it until it is just right.  Such a satisfying feeling recycling junk until it finds another life.  This little box started out holding stationary then it was subjected to folk art and now it has all been covered by metal bits and pieces, glimmer mist, gesso, plastic, bling, gilding paste and the odd flower.

It must be the week for finding life in repurposing, recycling and sharing it with others.  The lovely Doone has sent me the most incredible upcycled Junk Key fob.
There are so many layers and stories within this amazing piece of art.  I keep turning it around and finding something new, layer upon layer of texture all encased in resin.  It has flown across the world and arrived just as I was adding the last piece of "treasure" on my box.

Time to stop by woyww and see what others have on their desk.

  1. Hi Sandra, your little junk box is fabulous - what a brilliant way to recycle, I'm sure I have boxes of bits I don't want to chuck out but not sure I could make them look gorgeous like yours. Cheers RobynO #32

  2. Hi Ms.Sandra, TY for the visit. Having wonderful and uplifting people like you in my life from week to week definitely help with the positive attitude. I am totally in love with your repurposed box. I love finding ways to recycle, reuse and repurpose things people would normally throw out. Have you ever checked out jennibelliestudio.blogspot.co.uk?? She is an artist that is all about creating art made from recycled, repurposed, and reused stuff. If you've never checked her out, I highly recommend it.
I got like 12 quality cigar boxes from a website called freecycle, it's a website where people can donate items they no longer use or need, or request items they would like or need and it's all free. Someone had posted they were donating them, so I grabbed them up, cuz they are hard to find. I have been trying to figure out what to do with them, your box has inspired me to come up with some ideas. Ok seriously sorry for taking up all your space with this short essay. Happy Hump Day!!!

  5. I just love recycling and that gift from Donna is amazing. I know she found the resin fascinating but this is the first time I have seen any of her work. Lucky you!
As for your recycled box - well that is a beauty if ever I saw one. The paper clips, zip fastener etc all look like part of a jewel encrusted top which is absolutely beautiful.
Thanks for sharing and for visiting e earlier.
    hugs, Neet 25 xx

  9. Hi Sandra, love your beautiful boxes, the one you are working on now and the one off to the right too - fabulous makeovers, and quite inspiring ... I save little boxes with the intention of doing something with them too, but that's all I do, save them. Time I did something instead :) The Junk Key Fob from Doone is just incredible ... a real treasure. Oh, and I think the EM is of the opinion that he doesn't need me to find more useful things for him to do, he already does that very well for himself ... he is not the type to retire to the armchair, newspaper, TV, slippers and pipe ... inactivity would kill him for sure :)) Happy WOYWW, Elizabeth x #59

  29. I so wish I had a knack for upcycling things. I put lots of things together, but they don't look nearly as lovely as your end product. Your little box is too cute. Thank you for stopping by my blog earlier. I've been running behind this week - yay for a 3 day weekend. :-) April #24
