Dorothea Mackellar summed it up beautifully
I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
of droughts and flooding rains,
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea
Her beauty and her terror -
The wide brown land for me!
While it rained kitty started to emerge.
Warning to anyone with a fear of spiders.
As I was emptying water from the flower pots s/he leapt up the wall.
Good to see the critters survived the deluge.
Have a wonderfully creative week.
Your kitty is delightful, so realistic and he has the most beautiful eyes - what amazing work. Not sure about the spider, I try to love them but just can't!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good week,

Your emerging kitty is absolutely gorgeous, Sandra, but you can keep the spider lol!! What a beautiful little poem.
ReplyDeleteThank you for such a lovely comment - I'm so glad you enjoyed your visit to my blog this week. Even though I hardly ever get out these days, life is so full, so good, and never a dull moment! I have so much to be thankful for.
Happy WOYWW,

Yes indeedy Sandra good to see critters survived. Do you know the other five stanzas of My Country, I taught it to my primary children, I know most of it still. The first verse is all about England...
ReplyDelete” the love of field and coppice, of woods and shaded lanes,
of ordered woods and gardens is running in your veins ....
.. I know but cannot share it, my love is otherwise.
I live a sunburnt country of droughts and flooding rains... etc.”
It’s a shame she forgot fires but probably living at Gunnedah on a property she didn’t see many, but they’ve had their share out that way a few hours west at Coonabarabran, not that long ago.
Thankfully I’m not in flood area but praying much fir all poor folks affected so not fun!
Wow I love Gingers coat he’s looking most content, halfway there. ❤️
Do you remember when we both bought watercolour pads at l
Lincraft? I must admit I wasn’t sure if it would work on cards but they turned out beautifully, and loving the Gansai Tambi watercolour, only had them a year as birthday pressie February a year ago, and still exploring them.
But nearly all of my recent cards have had watercolour background including Joseph’s coats of many colours in early part of year. Looking forward to end of April catch up! God willing.
Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, hugs Shaz in Oz.x

I’ve been thinking about you and Shaz, wondering if the floods have affected you at all, we’ve seen a lot of it on the news. Seeing the waterfalls cascading down Uluru is quite magical, I bet that doesn’t happen very often. Gorgeous watercolour of the ginger cat, I have one just like it, he’s called Ron and he’s 19!

Now that's not a European spider - yikes! Ever been tempted to paint one? The kitty looks amazingly life-like! Stay dry! xx zsuzsa #28
ReplyDeleteLoving the new project and the spider well I don't mind them because they eat the other small things that crawl around but I prefer to know where they are Lol! Hope the rain is not proving too much of a problem. We've been watching your weather on the news. Stay safe and have a happy woyww, Angela x19x
ReplyDeleteKitty is beautiful but hey man - that is one big spider!! Happy WOYWW, stay well, stay safe, love n hugs, Cindy #27
ReplyDeleteIt’s been a busy day for me so I’m late doing my visits...better late than never eh?
ReplyDeleteReally love how kitty is coming along but as an arachnophobe I wasn’t so keen on the other photo.
Hugs,

Isn't kitty coming along just fine, beautiful colours. I heard about the rainfall too. Gosh that looks like a big spider, he's probably happy to be out of the rain.

In inspite of the nickname, I'm not really very keen on Spyders! And that's a weird one! I'm back here again, as I try and go see everyone, even if I can't comment/ Kittie Picture is looking great, As I said before, I should draw reall thungs moew instead of cartoon type whatsnames! Stay safe, keep crafting! Happy WOYWW?! ((Lyn))#21
ReplyDeletesorry, my new laptop, which I had three months ago, has a mind of its own,. It has a silver key board with lights and I can't see a dam thing! It takes me ages to comment! It should be 'things' not thungs and as for the 'moew' I'm guessing my cat must've nipped in and did that!!
ReplyDeleteThe rain has made it to our national news, so we know how bad it’s been for some...I hope you’re unaffected save the glum feeling that so much rain always seems to bring. Kitty is emerging beautifully, my word Miss a Sandra, you are a woman of patience!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful puss! My old hotmail name used to gingerpussycat! Glad the water is receding again, we've seen some awful footage on the news here. Take good care. Spring blessings, Lisa-Jane #7
ReplyDeleteThat is one enormous spider Sandra. Loving the way the kitty is coming on. Hope for dryer days soon. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #4
ReplyDeleteKitty is coming out beautifully and that looks like a big spider. I get my husband to remove them if they are on the ceiling otherwise it’s live and let live. I don’t think I would be so blasé if they were poisonous! Have a great week Angela #3
ReplyDeleteGreat spider picture! Your kitty is coming on beautifully!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW!

Gorgeous cat, lovely poem but I'll leave the spider thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm a bit late this week but I was digging a pond Wednesday then food shopping and trying to source some plants yesterday whilst the boys replaced some fence panels then I had to go clear up the garden AGAIN. Thanks for the visit BJ#9
Oh Sandra, that kitty is absolutely gorgeous. Reminds me of Fudge, a stray we took in. Well, we kidnapped him - or should that be catnapped? He had been adopted, sort of, by people near Chas' mothers but they had gone away for two weeks and just left him. They never had hi in the house, just fed him.
ReplyDeleteI used to go up and do some cleaning for her as she was moving and the place needed to be spick and span for the viewings. Well, this cat took a liking to me and would wait for me. I once trapped his tail in my car door but he still came looking for me the next time I was up.
I felt so much love for him and he was obviously in need of love (and he was full of fleas) that the lady next door to mil took him in her house one day and kept him for me, then we put him in a cat basket she had and took him home. Visits to the vet, fleas gone and one thing and another and he became ours - for 18 months. He had some cat urinary disease and sadly died. I cried buckets and have his ashes in a wooden box with a plaque on. At least he was loved so much at the end.
So I love your kitty picture but not so the spider, sorry.
Hugs, Neet 5 xx
ps Sorry I am so late but back is really bad plus I have had 267 spam comments to delete since Wednesday. So time consuming, especially when you don't feel like bothering. Someone obviously is targeting me.
Beautiful photos. Love the cat and the spider...I've no fear of them. My memories of my 2 sons and I watching one make a huge web within a window in such a short time still amazes me. We had 3 days of soft rain, winds and cool temps, BUT we needed it. We missed snowfalls and had dry last fall. The grass is greening up and I'm excited for Spring. A little late with the visit, but between 2 days of router issues and time away I'm still trying to get printers in sync. Enjoy the weekend.
