Far too many UFO's sighted in this makers drawers, cupboards and seven made it to my desk. In keeping with the woyww anniversary spirit I will walk you around the desk. Top LH corner has the usual cup of tea and bottle of water next to the packet of Gum arabic. It was a must have purchase and is still unopened and unprocessed into a binder for mulling watercolours. The little rocks are from rubble dumped on a pathway. I think they may be crushed clay water pipes. Hopefully I will get around to crushing them further to reveal a pale apricot ochre.
Then we have an Australian hand cream (original fig scent). COVID 19 has taught me to support local producers that don't rely on international shipping. Baby wipes have always been part of my desk arrangement and they are sitting on the repurposed w/c journal which is the second UFO. The original mixed media journal was made in 2012 and I have spent years trying to make the pages fit my style. Thanks to the nudge from WOYWW I tore the pages out and made my own journal using quality w/c paper. Third UFO is a pile of books I started reading and have stopped mid way. 4 hardcopies and about 4 on the kindle.
Note to self - do not purchase further books until these are read LOL.
Moving to the bottom RH corner you will find a cross stitch started sometime in the 90's and possibly put on hold due to having children, working full time and a good dose of "couldn't be bothered". But the anniversary has encouraged me to sort out the threads which is a start.
No idea why the w/c swatches are sitting on the cross stitch..... I think they need a new home and so get dumped around the desk. Finally 2 LO's completed for the dear children's albums. DD's graduation 3 years ago and DS first day at preschool approximately 22 years ago. Now I would never of remembered that I still had to complete these pages if I was not rummaging around the cupboard. Also sorted out years of photos and have a small pile somewhere on the desk to be scrapbooked.
Finally,
I did also manage to paint a bunny for DD's friend due to have a baby shortly. Ideas straight from pinterest/instagram etc. as I struggle to come up with anything original when it is needed in 48 hours. I did freestyle the flowers so hopefully won't be sued.
Last photo (I promise) of a lovely spider web catching the morning dew with our camellia bush in the background. The spider has lived in this spot for years and when I last saw her I thought she had put on weight so we have a lot in common.
Happy anniversary to all the lovely woyww's who have participated in 11 years of internet chat.
Thank you Julia for keeping us all
connected, inspired and encouraging UFO's to emerge during lockdown.
Keep safe everyone and happy 11th WOYWW.
You completed a lot and restarted a project from the 90s, which is good. I love the bunny, too. I bet yours looks better than the original! It's gorgeous. Happy WOYWW from # 6.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra, I really love the little bunny...what a special card that is. You have so many UFOs to share with us....wonderful.

ReplyDeleteHi Sandra. What a gorgeous post - so full of fun and serious... great. Well done. I love the bunny - and the flowers on her head are beautiful. The finished pages are great - I'm sure your family will be thrilled to see them. The water drops on the spider's web are lovely - with the camellia through it - great. The desk is full of potential - I look forward to seeing those little pebbles crushed down - you are just so talented. The cross stitch is a great picture - hope it gets finished. Well done on accomplishing so much
ReplyDeleteTake care. Stay safe. God bless.

ReplyDeleteHappy 11th Anniversary WOYWW. I love your bunny. Would make a great cushion! I have also ordered a Funky Bunny teatowel (after entering another competition which I didn't win!), which I may see if I can use it to create a bag or something else useful. Ali x #18

What a lovely coloured embroidery would love to see it laid out. That bunny is beautiful also and that spiders web with the dew on well what can I say. Ani#1
ReplyDeleteOh I did enjoy having a walk through your desk today, you have some great UFOs on the go. I really like the embroidery and threads, that's a definite for completing as the colours are gorgeous. But I do appreciate the madness of babies/work etc etc that meant it was abandoned in the first place. That bunny card is gorgeous, perfect for a little 'in.
ReplyDeleteHappy 11th Bloggyversary today, enjoy all the celebrations and you never know, one day we may yet still meet in person. Stranger things have happened!!

Hi Sandra, I'm laughing here at your spider comment! The bunny is a real beauty, captures the essence of 'bunnyness'!Love the colours involved in the cross stitch, not done any of that for more years than I can remember. So many fab UFO's here, and I'm with you completely on having a ridiculous amount,I really need to finish more of mine. Stay safe, have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #12 X
ReplyDeleteTotally taken by the Bunny your painting is amazing!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit BJ#13
Hi Sandra, I love your honesty. So many UFOs on your desk from years ago though I know that anyone that's been crafting as long as us will have these projects for sure or is it just guilt on my side. I too have the 'couldn't be bothered' problem HeeHee. I have to say the bunny is amazing and the flowers are a perfect touch. Thanks for all your kind words and wishing you a very happy woyww 11th Anniversary. Big hugs, Angela x17x
ReplyDeleteThat's a great amount of UFO's Sandra we all know that it's just not possible to finish it all off, our creative minds just wander off to the next thing.. Do you think the weight increase with the spider is due to her having to self isolate?
ReplyDeleteWow Sandra, you certainly found a lot of ufo's and if I had been bothered I could have found a lot more to show as well. Guess I was just scared to admit in case I was challenged to finish them.
Am sure your bunny picture will not get you into trouble, such a beautiful painting and such a lucky recipient. I can just see it now in a frame gracing someone's wall, so pretty.
Take care, mix your lovely apricot paint and let us all see what you do with it. You truly are an artist.
Hugs, Neet 5 - Happy Anniversary xx
Thank you for your visit to me blog, Great desk and hope you get some finished soon, Love the bunny picture,
ReplyDeleteTake care and stay safe, Lilian B #21
My goodness this challenge has inspired you! It's quite alarming to realise how long things have sat around, unfinished or unresolved - and I'm sure 'couldn't be bothered' plays a large part in that! Thank you for your earlier visit, Happy Bloggiversary, Stay safe, stay well, Cindy #26
ReplyDeleteDjee, some UFOs you pulled out of the corners of your closets ;D It's amazing what you find when you dive into deep boxes or forgotten drawers isn't it? Good luck finishing it all... I do love the card. I, too, am not my best when I need a card in a short time (I usually copy old cards I once made and photographed, some design that doesn't take too long to make...) Happy anniversary dear one, stay safe. Big hug from Holland, Marit #32
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post Sandra! Love that you have UFOs all together in one place; certainly helps if you don’t have to hunt them down..gives you choices too, sometimes you’re in the mood for finishing one thing but not another!! I don’t scrap chronologically anyway, but certainly have 25 year old photos that I’d like to make pages with, I consider it the nature of the beast! I also have an embroidery (it features on my blog Now and then because I take it on holiday). That’s four years old. I bought it to do after the old brain op, but had a very serious case of can’t be bothered with it in varying lengths of time ever since!! I guess that once you discovered your gift for painting, everything else has taken a backseat, and I’m not in the least surprised about that, when I find my gift, Iwill do the same, ha ha!!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated 11th WOYWW, Lynn, isn't IT amazing!? 😊 and so grateful to have your friendship through it!
ReplyDeleteWell saw your bunny on Insta.. and now know why you painted it as did wonder! And its is wonderful.. flowers and all. Artistic licence is true..in all art.
Love your embroidery hope you finish it. I'm a slow person in anything I do so under stand your numerous UFOs and am guilty of buying, not using or reading.. bad me!
Thanks for sharing, and may God bless and keep you and all whom you love safe and well.
Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz. X 7

Hi Sandra! Nice busy desk today! The bunny is adorable - Pinterest is my go-to as well, for so many things! I see your journal is the Donna Downie journal - I have one too, I'm about 3/4 of the way through, must finish it! I think Julia's UFO idea was brilliant, the more blogs I go to, the more I think it should be an annual thing! Happy Anniversary, glad to be your WOYWW friend! Lindart #40
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit, Sandra, and for your encouraging words about all my UFOs!! I agree - I am sure it is because I do so many different things that I've got so many. I'm so glad you like my pantry and my hubby's card - both projects were fun to do.
