woyww - ATC from Finland

Wednesday has not turned out as I had planned...... lunch abandoned (sorry RosA!) and car now at the mechanic.  So I walked home and started a painting and then I collected the mail.  A wonderful ATC from Riikka Kovasin from Finland arrived and my day got a lot better.  Thank you Riikka I am thrilled.
I had to take a photo so you can see all the lovely mixed media details on the ATC and the fab stamp.

Finally a pic of the huge butterfly or possibly a moth that landed on the back screen as I was coming inside.  Finger in the photo so that you can gauge how huge.... nothing to do with my bad photography.

Enjoy your Wednesday and hopefully this week I will get around to visit.

woyww - sketch and w/c

Another page in my journal of a landscape which is really just an exercise of the wet on wet technique.  On the left are notes from a Saturday sketching workshop that I did with Liz Steel.  It was held in the Rocks area of Sydney and was a great introduction to sketching buildings and doing quick watercolours.  You can see from the pic my struggle with stairs and my beginner stages of sketching.
Final pic is of the watercolour version.

Check out Liz's website and you will get a feel for her wonderful work and lots of pics of the urban sketcher groups she is part of in OZ and overseas.  She was a very friendly teacher  who was so giving of her time/suggestions.  I am sure I will be back for more classes.

Now I am off to join in on woyww.....

woyww - journal pages

The desk is reasonably tidy with my open journal page and a cup of tea at the ready for when I sit and do the woyww post.
Close up of the quick w/c of the "rocky outcrop" which is just an exercise in using a flat 1" brush rather then the rounded brushes.   The travel journal is nearly complete and I will be moving on to another book as I get ready for an online sketch class.
Finally a page from a "word" journal I started years ago usually based on a verse or quote that has significance to me.  I can do these quickly without any worry about where to put bits and pieces.

Thanks for visiting.....

woyww - rocks

A boring desk with some images that I am considering using for ATC's.  You just never know when you will need a few extra ATC's for a swap.  Getting to the end of my travel journal and I have a quick pic of rocks.

The theme continues with a few added twigs and leaves for variety.

Looking back now I think the rocks might be a metaphor for watercolour painting.  Thanks to everyone who visited last week and left such lovely comments.

woyww - watercolours

Painting flowers (freestyle) which I find very relaxing as it just empties my mind.   I adore botanical watercolours but, do not have the talent nor the patience.  So I paint imaginary flowers.

A couple of pics from my journal.

A landscape done quickly on the way down the California coast, minus the telegraph poles and lanes of highway of course!

Just to show that I do branch out occasionally a pic of a hat made famous in the "Breaking Bad" series. DH pointed out that it was first made famous by Popeye Doyle in the "French Connection"but that just shows our age.

Join in with the lovely Julia, share your desk and visit the world.

woyww - photos and paint

Working on scrapping some photos from our holiday and also trying my hand at watercolours again (note 3 jars of water).  While I was away I started a journal and tried to quickly sketch and paint anything that took my fancy.
The seals at La Jolla were fun and definitely took my fancy.   I did this quickly when we got back to the motel and finally a another sketch and w/c wash trying to capture the cold winter sunset along Pebble Beach.

Finally one of the watercolours I had been working on before I moved onto scrapping holiday photos.

I plan to visit lots of desks over the next few days but may not leave comments as I have had problems accessing my blog account.  No problems with google just family members who don't check which  google account they log into and then change passwords. Grrrr...
