Busy busy couple of weeks and not a lot of time to post for woyww. Finally got to post something today, not often I get to paint a dog. A last minute request from DD. I am almost finished just have to add a few whiskers and touch up fur. If I don't post it now another week will fly by and I miss woyww.
Underpainting of a rose with lots of ruffled petals sits on my desk this Wednesday. Hopefully I will get some time this weekend to shift it from pink to deep burgundy.
The completed kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae). He turned out to be a fine fellow sitting happily while I painted every little feather!
A lovely catch up with RosA today and now sitting here admiring all the texture
Started painting the leaf after a morning walk. By the time I came back to add some finishing touches the leaf had curled and light was not so good at my desk.
Also tried my hand at an acrylic dirty pour. So many great you tube clips on how to do this type of very free flowing art. Made a mess and learnt a big lesson. I had left the canvas outside on top of a box and came back hours later to find a square piece of plastic had floated by and landed on my canvas. I tried to carefully peel it off but it has still left an imprint. Can you spot it?
Painting a hand is the June tutorial from Anna Mason's online class.
Stage 2 and it is definitely coming alive.
But the most exciting things on my desk this week are the lovely ATC's and cards. Starting on the left from Lisa M, Angela, Twiglet, Neet, LLJ, Marit and Wipso. Thank you everyone they are stunning.
My desk this week has a lovely collection of ATC's and tags. Starting on the left I have an ATC from Julia, tag from Sarah, followed by ATC from Shaz in Oz and finally a Fairy ATC from Shaz in the UK.
Thank you everyone, I am thrilled to add these to my woyww collection.
The finished kitty from last week.
Have a lovely week and I promise to visit but it will be a slow meander over the weekend.
An aerial view of the kitty I am painting for DD's friend. All credit to the original owner who posted a lovely pic on Pinterest. I am adding fattening touches to recreate the kitty we know. Half way through the painting and hope to have him finished by Friday.
My desk has it's usual yucky water and dirty palette. Wish I had more to show but it has been busy week.
My desk this Wednesday is a poorly staged shot of a thank you card made for DD in great haste. I was pleased with the end result. DD thought too much gold! You can't please everyone.
A busy few days means that I will stop by and slowly visit woyww desks over the weekend.
A busy couple of weeks has meant I missed last week's woyww and got behind with my magnolia painting on Anna Mason's online tutorial. The obligatory desk has the usual yucky water, 3/4 finished painting and odds and ends.
Close up of the pink magnolia.
Finally remembered to post a pic of the baby beanies I started well over a month ago. All finished and now being worn by a 1 year old and a baby.
Have a great woyww peek and I promise to stop by and say hello.
A picture of my other desk which has a collection of goodies from RosA (Thank you), foam craft kits for a children's project and stacks of folders and resources that just get higher and higher. No time for crafting this evening because I am looking through the lovely art faces project folder.
This weeks desk has a waratah (Telopea speciosissima) which is 2/3 finished. Painting leaves currently and the plan is to finish it over the weekend. The painting and the photo don't quite match as it is a combination of different photos taken from the internet. Trying to make sure I don't get nasty emails about copyright etc. Not that I have received emails but when the photos have watermarks I just assume credit is due to the owner and I shouldn't do a direct copy. When I draw up from combinations of photos it can be difficult to capture the light on the flowers and leaves accurately. But what the heck it's all good practice. Yuck just noticed the water jar needs to be changed :o
Have a lovely woyww peek and I promise to pop around over the next couple of nights and over the weekend.
A completed rose is sitting on my desk this Wednesday. Happy with the end result which was painted over the Easter weekend. The leaves took ages ... in the end I missed some of the veins. So don't look too closely :) Once again all credit to Anna Mason's online classes. This time I painted from the reference picture and relied on what I have learnt from previous tutorials.
A woyww desk photo to keep in the spirit of the post.
A birds eye view of the bits and pieces on my other desk. Repurposing old watercolour backgrounds and bringing out a collection of lovely dies (thank you RosA). Hopefully inspiration will strike and a few ATC's will be the result.
Two little hellebores painted over the past fortnight. A short post for woyww as it has been a busy week with work and family activities. I shouldn't complain about work as it funds the painting and craft.
Happy woyww and I promise to visit over the weekend.
A wonderful photo of 2 pretty Christmas roses (Hellebors) from Angela's garden. Looking at how best to compose these sweet flowers before I start painting. Thank you Angela for sharing this photo with me.
Last nights attempt at knitting a baby beanie is still lying on the desk. It has been years since I knitted so I am starting with a basic no fail pattern.
Final pic is the completed dissected pear from last week. All in all a productive week.
Visits to woyww desks will be a slow meander over the weekend.
Not a lot on the desk. A print out of this month's tutorial, left over paper from last painting, water pots, brushes and paints. Far too many interruptions today resulted in no decision being made about whether I paint the pear. Will pop around and visit desks over the next couple of days to look for inspiration.
A birds eye view of my desk with the bits and pieces necessary for card making. Since I started painting flowers, card making is fairly simple. Scan and print the painting onto heavy cardstock and mount on a card. Easy peasy.
First layer on the apple blossom. I gave the original away and decided to paint another one just for me.
A quiet Sunday afternoon has seen the completion of the amethyst. Not a subject I will be rushing to paint again but very satisfying learning how to paint a different texture.
Lots of interruptions this week means the amethyst is slowly crystallising!! Hopefully the weekend will see it completed as I am over the half way mark. Visits to other woyww desks will be slow and steady of the weekend.
